What is Collagen Replacement Therapy?
Collagen is a natural protein found in the body that provides support to our skin. As we age, the natural collagen layer thins and wrinkles appear. Other factors that attribute to wrinkles include sun exposure, injury, acne, smoking and our normal facial expressions. Now you can smooth out facial lines and furrows using CosmoDerm®. This collagen dermal filler is injected underneath the skin to create a smooth surface and temporarily eliminate fine lines, wrinkles, and scars.

Are collagen treatments different from BOTOX® Cosmetic?
Yes. Botulinum Toxin Type A is a protein that is injected into the muscles that create expression lines. Expression lines are the wrinkles you see on the forehead, between the brows and around the eye area that are caused by repeated facial movements. Collagen filler is injected underneath the wrinkle or scar in order to smooth out the surface area of the skin.

What areas can be treated?
The most common areas that can successfully be treated include frown lines, lip lines, and worry lines. When used along the lip border, treatment reduces vertical lines around the lips, while adding definition to the lips.

How many treatments will I need?
Typically, it takes less than an hour for treatment. You will see results immediately for finer lines and the lip area. The filler is injected using a small gauge needle until achieving the desired effect. Most patients require a touch up at 2 weeks. Treatment results generally last up to 3 months. Most patients repeat treatment 2 to 4 times a year because of the body's natural absorption of the collagen. Discomfort is minimal because CosmoDerm® contains the anesthetic, lidocaine.



Prior to scheduling a medical spa treatment, each patient will have a skin care consultation with one of our cosmetic specialists. The consultation will allow for a comprehensive evaluation of your skin care needs and development of a regimen that is perfectly tailored for you. There is a $50 consultation fee which will be credited toward your scheduled treatment.
